Auschwitz Birkenau

This Auschwitz-Birkenau Complex is a vivid reminder to its visitors of the consequences of unadulterated hate.

It is a place of memory, pilgrimage and education.

From the spring of 1942 Auschwitz II (Birkenau) became the largest extermination site for the Jews transported here under the Nazi plan. More than 1,100,000 men, women, and children were murdered there. Since 1947 former German Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau became a site of commamoration and education.

During the visit to Auschwitz/Birkenau guide will take you round the cells, barracks and gas chambers and explain the meaning behind the pictures and exhibits in the museum depicting tragic history of Auschwitz/Birkenau.

I realize that a visit to Auschwitz may be an emotional experience, often because of family connections and their fate in this place. In order to take in the grounds and exhibitions in a suitable way, visitors should set aside a minimum of about 90 minutes for the Auschwitz site and the same amount of time for Auschwitz II-Birkenau.

There is possibility to join a group visit (maximum 30 people, there are options of choosing the language) with a Museum educator, or arrange private guide (educator) to Auschwitz Birkenau. The educators (guides) working at this site must be certified by the Museum.

Auschwitz – Birkenau former German Nazi Camps are located around 1,5 hour away from Krakow.

The visit will consist of:

Pick up from your hotel in Krakow
