For centuries one of the most important destinations of Polish and foreign pilgrims in Poland was Jasna Gora Monastery in Czestochowa. Sanctuary is a symbol of spirituality and the Polish Catholic Church.
Jasna Gora Sanctuary is a place where you can find the most important and recognizable icon of Polish christianity – The Icon of Black Madonna of Czestochowa. Seen as a miraculous Icon the Black Madonna is visited by thousands of pilgrims each year. Some walk for days and weeks to experience and pray in front of the holy icon.
There is a possibility to visit The 600th Anniversary Museum which contains fascinating artefacts, including the founding documents of Jasna Góra from 1382 and a cross made from the steel of the World Trade Centre, destroyed in New York on 11 September 2001.
